Camp Horizons is located at Newark Academy, 91 South Orange Avenue in Livingston, NJ, one traffic light west of the Livingston Mall. Here is a map and driving directions from many of the surrounding towns.

 
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Choices! Choices! Choices! Every two weeks you and your child will have the opportunity to select seven (7) activities per day from our Activity Selection Sheet. This individualized schedule means that your child will always be in activities he or she enjoys. Furthermore, the responsibility of creating their own schedule will do wonders for your child's self esteem, decision-making abilities and confidence.

 
TRANSPORTATION

Camp Horizons offers door-to-door, mini-bus pick-up and drop-off within our designated geographic locations. Alternatively, parents are welcome to drive their children to and from camp each day. There is a $400 discount for driving 8 weeks. For more information, please see the section on Transportation.

LUNCH AND SNACKS

Your child may bring lunch in a disposable bag (which is refrigerated immediately upon arrival at camp) or participate in our optional lunch program which can be purchased on a seasonal basis. If your child doesn't like the sandwich offering on a specific day, peanut butter and jelly can be substituted. Daily lunches are Monday - Tuna, Tuesday - Roast Beef, Thursday - Bologna and Friday - Turkey. A fruit, milk or bottled water and dessert are included in the lunch program. Water is provided throughout the day, and in the afternoon campers enjoy ice pops or ice cream.

COMPLIMENTARY PIZZA LUNCH EVERY WEDNESDAY

A complimentary PIZZA lunch is served to ALL campers every Wednesday.

Juice, soda, milk or bottled water and big delicious chocolate chip cookies are served.

Owner of Camp Horizons

Neil Rothstein began his camping career in 1963 as the Camp Director of Spring Gardens. He then directed at Mountain Crest, Sun Valley, and Brooklake Day Camp. In 1980, he became the Owner of Brooklake, and in 1984 he established Camp Horizons. He is a retired Health and Physical Education Teacher from Heritage Middle School in Livingston. He has an M.A. in Administration and Supervision. Neil’s goal is for every child to enjoy success and happiness every single day of camp!

Director of Camp Horizons

Alan Pressman, a retired Middle-School Guidance Counselor and Dean of Students in Fair Lawn, NJ, has been the Director of Camp Horizons since it began in 1984. Alan’s dedication helps make our program so very successful.

Director of Kindergarten/First Grade

Holly Newler previously served as the Director of Brooklake Day Camp for nine summers and currently teaches 1st Grade in Newark. She has directed the K/1 program at Camp Horizons since 1999. Holly’s devotion to campers and parents is exceptional!

Assistant Camp Director

Evan Wofsy began his camping career as a 4-year old camper at Brooklake Day Camp in 1974. After spending ten years as a camper, he became an assistant counselor, and then Head Counselor. In 2000, Evan became the Sports Director at Camp Horizons, and in 2005, he became the Assistant Camp Director. Evan is the owner of www.barmitzvahbouncer.com, and teaches 5th Grade bringing enthusiasm, energy, and fun to camp each day.
